On February 13th 2020, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Phuket Rajabhat University together with Rassada Municipality, hosted a Thai culture conservation event on the occasion of Rajabhat Day called ‘Cultural Heritage: FST the 2nd Thai Culture Conservation Fair’. The opening of the event was held at Piromrat Circle in the university, presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hiran Prasarnkarn, the President of Phuket Rajabhat University; with Asst. Prof. Dr. Wipawan Buathong, the Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology; the university executives, staff, students, and locals.
The objective of the event was to present Thai arts and culture to the students, university staff and locals at the same time to conserve local cultures and traditions which is one of the university’s missions to conserve, promote and develop Thai arts, culture and Andaman local wisdom. The event also offered opportunities to the students and university staff to participate in conservation through activities in the event: e.g. performances from Rassada Subdistrict Senior Club, Manora Show from Nayong District in Trang Province, a Thai Country band called ‘Sam Kong Super Dance’ from Sam Kong Municipality School, student work booths and local Phuket cuisine booths that are part of promoting local cuisines under the project called ‘Phuket City Gastronomy’.
